Our Research

Who should not do red light therapy?

In the vibrant landscape of wellness, red light therapy has emerged as a promising modality, offering a range of potential benefits. However, for individuals taking immunosuppressant medications or those who have undergone organ transplants, there are important considerations and potential risks associated with red light therapy.

Understanding Immunosuppression:Immunosuppression refers to the deliberate or inadvertent suppression of the immune system's activity. The immune system is responsible for defending the body against harmful pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and other foreign substances. In certain medical conditions, it may be necessary to weaken or suppress the immune response to prevent the immune system from attacking the body's cells (autoimmune disorders) or to reduce the risk of rejection in organ transplantation.

There are various ways to achieve immunosuppression, including:1. Medications: Immunosuppressive drugs, such as corticosteroids, calcineurin inhibitors (e.g., cyclosporine, tacrolimus), and antimetabolites (e.g., azathioprine, mycophenolate mofetil), are commonly used to dampen the immune response.

2. Biological Therapies: Monoclonal antibodies and other biologically engineered molecules can target specific components of the immune system to modulate its activity.

3. Radiation Therapy: High-dose radiation can be used to suppress the immune system, particularly in the context of bone marrow or stem cell transplantation.Immunosuppression is employed in various medical scenarios, such as:

- Organ Transplantation: To prevent the recipient's immune system from rejecting the transplanted organ. - Autoimmune Disorders: To manage conditions where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's tissues (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, inflammatory bowel diseases).- Allergic Reactions: In some cases, immunosuppressive drugs may be used to dampen severe allergic responses. It's important to note that while immunosuppression can be beneficial in certain medical situations, it also poses risks, as it may increase susceptibility to infections and other health issues. The use of immunosuppressive therapies is carefully monitored and tailored to the specific needs of each patient.

Post-Transplant Considerations:  - Concern: Organ transplant recipients are in a unique medical situation, requiring ongoing management of their immune response.  - Caution: Since the new organ in your body needs immunosuppressants to be accepted in your body. Red Light Therapy has the potential to boost your immune system and cancel out the medication, potentially having the organ be rejected in your body causing serious bodily harm.

Immunosuppressed Considerations:   - Concern: Red light therapy acts as an immune stimulant. Boosting the immune system with red light therapy could potentially harm someone whose immune system isn't functioning properly.   - Caution: Please consult with your primary healthcare provider before considering red light therapy as an adjunctive treatment for your symptoms if you're taking immune suppressant medications.

Consultation before Illumination:  - Concern: Where red light therapy is an evolving science, there is still much research that needs to be discovered and done before there is a solid direction regarding red light therapy and immune suppressants.  - Caution: Before considering red light therapy, those taking immunosuppressants or having undergone organ transplants should engage in thorough consultations with healthcare professionals.

Opting for Alternative Approaches:  - Concern: Traditional and alternative wellness approaches may be explored as alternatives to red light therapy for immunosuppressed individuals.  - Caution: In certain cases, exploring safer alternatives that don't pose potential risks to immune function may be advisable at this point.

Conclusion: Prioritize Safety and Consultation:Red light therapy, while promising for many, requires a nuanced approach for individuals with suppressed immune systems or those who have undergone organ transplants. Prioritizing safety and seeking professional advice through thorough consultation with healthcare providers is essential to ensure the well-being of individuals navigating immunosuppression or post-transplant care.

Red light Therapy and Weight loss: What's the truth?

In the ever-evolving world of wellness, red light therapy has garnered attention, with some claiming it possesses mystical fat-zapping powers. Let's set the record straight – red light therapy isn't a magical fat disappearance act. Instead, it plays a supportive role in your weight loss journey. Here's a breakdown of what it truly does:

1. Boosting Energy Levels:  - Reality: Red light therapy doesn't make fat vanish, but it can rev up your energy levels.  - Truth: Increased energy can fuel more intense workouts, aiding in calorie burn and weight loss efforts.2. Accelerating Metabolism:  - Reality: The myth of fat magically disappearing is debunked.  - Truth: Red light therapy can give your metabolism a nudge, supporting your body in burning calories more efficiently.3. Enhancing Muscle Recovery:  - Reality: No vanishing fat, but an essential role in muscle recovery.  - Truth: Red light therapy promotes nitric oxide (NO) production and protein synthesis, aiding in faster muscle recovery post-workout.4. Improving Blood Flow:  - Reality: Forget the fat-zapping fantasy.  - Truth: Red light therapy supports increased blood flow, delivering nutrients to your muscles for improved performance and recovery.5. Addressing Inflammation:  - Reality: No fat disappearing act here.  - Truth: Red light therapy helps reduce inflammation, easing post-workout recovery and promoting overall well-being.6. Supporting Digestive Health:  - Reality: Red light won't magically melt away fat.  - Truth: It contributes to better gut health, aiding in the digestive process and supporting overall wellness.

In Summary: A Weight Loss Ally, Not a Magician:Red light therapy is no sorcerer, but it can be a valuable ally in your weight loss journey. It doesn't make fat vanish into thin air, but it contributes to a holistic approach. By increasing energy levels, boosting metabolism, aiding muscle recovery, improving blood flow, addressing inflammation, and supporting digestive health, red light therapy complements the essential elements of a healthy lifestyle.

The Bottom Line:Don't be fooled by claims of miraculous fat zapping. Red light therapy is a supportive player in the weight loss game, not a magicin's wand. Combine it with regular exercise, a balanced diet, and healthy lifestyle choices for a well-rounded approach to achieving your weight loss goals.

Illuminate Your Thanksgiving with Gratitude and Red Light Therapy

Updated: Dec 4, 2023

As the holiday season unfolds and Thanksgiving draws near, it's a time to reflect on gratitude and wellness. At The Wellness Center, we believe in the power of full-body pulsing red light therapy to enhance your well-being and illuminate your path to a healthier life. In this blog post, we'll explore the unique benefits of our gold-standard red light therapy and how it can add a special glow to your Thanksgiving celebrations.

As the season of gratitude approaches, our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving, a time when we gather with loved ones to reflect on the blessings in our lives. This year, let's take a moment to explore a unique way to enhance our well-being during this festive season. While we're all excited about indulging in delicious Thanksgiving feasts and cherishing quality family time, there's a secret ingredient that can elevate your experience: Red Light Therapy.

The Gratitude Glow:

Thanksgiving is more than just a day to feast; it's an opportunity to express gratitude for the abundance in our lives. Red light therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy or photobiomodulation, offers a holistic approach to well-being that aligns seamlessly with the spirit of Thanksgiving. By harnessing the power of red and near-infrared light, this therapy promotes cellular rejuvenation, boosts circulation, and enhances overall bodily function.

Digesting Gratitude – and Turkey:

One of the key benefits of red light therapy is its potential to aid digestion. As we gather around the table for a Thanksgiving feast, the rich and indulgent food can sometimes leave us feeling a bit sluggish. Red light therapy has been shown to improve blood flow and reduce inflammation in the digestive system, supporting a more efficient digestion process. This means you can savor your favorite dishes without the discomfort of post-feast bloating.

Focus on Family:

While the physical benefits of red light therapy are impressive, its impact on mental well-being is equally noteworthy. As we navigate the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it's essential to stay grounded and present in the moment. Red light therapy has been linked to improved mood and reduced symptoms of anxiety and stress. By incorporating this therapy into your routine, you can enhance your ability to focus on the most important aspect of Thanksgiving – quality family time.

How Red Light Therapy Works:

Red light therapy operates on the principle of photobiomodulation, where our specific wavelengths of light stimulate cellular activity. This gentle and non-invasive treatment is delivered through light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that emit red and near-infrared light. These wavelengths penetrate the skin, reaching deep into the body's tissues and triggering various biological responses that contribute to improved health and well-being.

Incorporating Red Light Therapy into Your Thanksgiving Routine:

To reap the benefits of red light therapy, consider incorporating it into your pre-Thanksgiving and post-Thanksgiving rituals. Please spend a few minutes each day basking in the gentle glow of red light, allowing its therapeutic effects to support your digestion and overall vitality. Our full-body pulsing red light therapy devices offer the highest quality of red light therapy you can find.

Conclusion:

This Thanksgiving, let the spirit of gratitude shine bright, both in your heart and through the healing glow of red light therapy. By embracing this innovative approach to well-being, you can savor the flavors of the season, cherish precious moments with loved ones, and create lasting memories. Illuminate your Thanksgiving with the power of gratitude and the gentle warmth of red light therapy – a holistic combination that will leave you feeling truly thankful.

Can Red Light Therapy Help Treat Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.)?

What is Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.)? Seasonal affective disorder (S.A.D.) is a type of depression that occurs in a seasonal pattern, typically during the fall and winter months when there is less natural sunlight. It’s also known as winter depression or winter blues. S.A.D. is believed to be related to changes in light exposure and how they affect the body’s internal biological clock, as well as certain brain chemicals like serotonin and melatonin.People with S.A.D. may experience a range of emotional and physical symptoms, which can include:

Depressed mood: Feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and low energy.Lack of interest in activities: A loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed.Changes in sleep patterns: Oversleeping, difficulty waking up in the morning, or insomnia.Weight and appetite changes: Overeating and cravings for carbohydrates, leading to weight gain.Fatigue and low energy: Feeling tired and sluggish.Difficulty concentrating: Difficulty focusing on tasks and making decisions.Irritability: Feeling more irritable and moody than usual.

How can red light therapy help? Red light therapy or photobiomodulation is a non-invasive form of therapy that stimulates your blood flow, decreases your inflammation, promotes your body’s natural ability to heal, and increases your energy levels. Our full-body pods, called the Regen Q8, can pulse four different wavelengths of light in the red and near-infrared (NIR) spectrum. Pulsing the light in the red and NIR spectrum recalibrates your body to function and act the way it’s supposed to. How, you ask, is this beneficial for S.A.D.? Check this out.

Light pulsed at 20Hz produces dopamine, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, motivation, and reward.Pulsing red and NIR light has been proven to help balance the brain, by increasing blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain cells, enhancing neurogenesis and synaptic plasticity, and modulating neural activity and inflammation.Pulsing red and NIR light has been proven to help slow down anxious thoughts, by reducing the activity of the amygdala, the brain region involved in fear and stress responses, and increasing the activity of the prefrontal cortex, the brain region involved in executive functions and emotional regulation.Pulsing red and NIR light has been proven to help recalibrate our circadian rhythm, by synchronizing the production of melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep and wake cycles, and influencing the expression of clock genes, the genes that control the biological clock.

By using red light therapy, you can boost your mood, improve your sleep quality, enhance your cognitive performance, and reduce your stress levels. Red light therapy is a safe, natural, and effective way to combat S.A.D. and enjoy the winter season.

Does red light therapy work?

Updated: Dec 29, 2023At The Wellness Center, we're passionate about promoting your emotional and physical well-being. Our full-body red light therapy pods are the gold standard of pulsed red light therapy. In this blog post, we will explore the incredible benefits of red light therapy in general and the unique advantages gained from pulsing our red light.

Section 1: The Power of Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy in its most basic form is going to do 4 things. It's going to enhance your circulation, reduce your inflammation, increase your energy levels, and promote your body's natural ability to heal. In this section, we are going to briefly take a look at how red light therapy helps.

Enhanced Circulation

Red light therapy is a game-changer when it comes to improving blood circulation. The science behind it is fascinating. When red and NIR light waves penetrate your skin, they trigger the release of nitric oxide in your blood vessels. Nitric oxide's role is to dilate the blood vessels, leading to improved blood flow. This ensures that essential nutrients and oxygen reach every part of your body more efficiently. Better circulation supports the overall health and function of your cells and organs.

Reduction of Inflammation

Chronic inflammation can lead to various health concerns. Red light therapy steps in by reducing inflammation through the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokine production. This reduction in inflammation can alleviate pain and discomfort, promoting an overall sense of well-being.

Increased Energy

The demands of daily life can leave you feeling fatigued. Red light therapy is your energy booster. It increases the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the primary source of cellular energy. With higher energy levels, you'll experience increased alertness, vitality, and readiness to tackle life's challenges.

Tapping into the Body's Healing Abilities

Our bodies are equipped with remarkable self-healing capabilities. Red light therapy acts as a catalyst, awakening and reinforcing these innate powers. By encouraging cellular regeneration and repair, it supports the body's natural ability to heal itself. This holistic approach is particularly valuable for those seeking integrated wellness.

Section 2: The Wonders of Pulsing Red Light Therapy

Here is where we really start to shine, pulsing red light therapy. Below we are going to talk about pulsing red light therapy and share with you some of the effects that it can have on you.

Harnessing the Power of Pulsing Light

Top 10 Vitamins and Supplements for Optimal Brain Function and How They Support Red Light Therapy:

Vitamins and supplements are an important part of our everyday lives, since they help provide nutrients our bodies need to function properly. It starts with a balanced diet, but vitamins and supplements can fill the gaps in areas that are deficient. Vitamins and supplements each have their own set of specific health benefits, including their ability to boost immunity, increase our energy, improve brain function, and support joint health.

Our team at The Wellness Center is committed to providing full body, red and near-infrared light therapy that contributes to improving physical and emotional wellness, including optimizing brain function. Vitamins and supplements also play a supportive role in enhancing brain health when used in combination with a consistent red light therapy program. In this blog post, we will explore the top 10 vitamins and supplements for optimal brain function and how they can complement Red Light Therapy as adjunctive care.

1. Omega-3 Fatty Acids:

Role: Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly DHA and EPA, supports brain health by reducing inflammation and promoting efficient communication between brain cells.

Adjunctive Benefits: Red Light Therapy can enhance blood circulation. Improved circulation is needed for essential fats like Omega-3s to reach the brain more efficiently, maximizing their positive impact on cognitive function. Combining Red Light Therapy with Omega-3 supplementation can create a synergistic effect that supports your overall well-being, as well as the health and vitality of your brain.

2. Vitamin B Complex:

Role: B-vitamins (B6, B9, and B12) are water soluble and not stored in the body, but necessary for neurotransmitter production and optimal cognitive function.

Adjunctive Benefits: Red Light Therapy can help improve the absorption of these vitamins with the increase of blood flow. This enhanced circulation promotes better delivery of nutrients throughout the body, allowing vitamins to be utilized more efficiently.

3. Vitamin D:

Role: Vitamin D is associated with cognitive function and may help reduce the risk of cognitive decline.

Adjunctive Benefits: When exposed to red light, the skin responds by producing vitamin D similar to what happens when exposed to sunlight. This can be beneficial when you have limited exposure to the sun. Red Light Therapy combined with vitamin D supplementation can help improve vitamin D levels, which supports brain health by reducing the risk of cognitive decline and improving your mood. This approach can play an important role in your body’s ability to receive the nutrients it needs, despite environmental factors.

4. Vitamin E:

Role: Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant, which can potentially protect brain cells from oxidative stress.

Adjunctive Benefits: Red Light Therapy, through its ability to enhance cellular energy production and circulation, can help mitigate the effects of oxidative damage by promoting the efficient removal of free radicals. This, in combination with vitamin E supplementation, creates a dual defense mechanism against oxidative stress, ensuring better protection for your brain cells and overall brain health.

5. Curcumin (Turmeric Extract):

Role: Curcumin is found in Turmeric, and is known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which can have neuroprotective effects. It has also been reported that Alzheimer’s patients taking curcumin have experienced improvements in memory and attention.

Adjunctive Benefits: Red Light Therapy enhances the absorption of curcumin, making it more effective. The increased blood flow and improved circulation resulting from Red Light Therapy can aid in the distribution of curcumin to various tissues, including the brain.

6. Lion's Mane Mushroom:

Role: Lion's Mane contains compounds that may stimulate the growth of brain cells and improve cognitive function.

Adjunctive Benefits: Red Light Therapy can support the circulation of these beneficial compounds to the brain.

7. Ginkgo Biloba:

Role: Ginkgo Biloba works to improve circulation and blood flow to the brain, potentially enhancing memory and cognitive function.

Adjunctive Benefits: This can be very beneficial when combined with Red Light Therapy, potentially promoting better circulation in the brain.

8. Phosphatidylserine:

Role: Covers and protects the cells in the brain, carries messages between them, supports cognitive function, and ability to focus.

Adjunctive Benefits: Red Light Therapy can help increase cell membrane flexibility, making phosphatidylserine more effective. The Wellness Center has protocols in place that work to improve these symptoms as well.

9. Acetyl-L-Carnitine:

Role: Acetyl-L-carnitine helps with energy production in the brain and may have neuroprotective effects.Adjunctive Benefits: Red Light Therapy has been shown to enhance cellular energy production in the brain. This is achieved by stimulating the mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell, to produce more adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is the primary source of energy for cells, including brain cells.

A study published in the journal "Frontiers in Neuroscience" in 2019 titled "Near-Infrared Photobiomodulation in Cognitive Decline: A Comparative Review" discusses how near-infrared light therapy (a part of Red Light Therapy) can positively impact mitochondrial function and enhance cellular energy production in the brain. This, in combination with Acetyl-L-Carnitine supplementation, can create a powerful synergy, supporting not only brain energy production but also potentially offering neuroprotective effects.

10. Magnesium:

Role: Magnesium is essential for neurotransmitter function and plays a role in reducing stress and anxiety.

Adjunctive Benefits: Red Light Therapy can help improve magnesium absorption and ensure its availability for brain health. The increased blood circulation induced by Red Light Therapy can potentially transport magnesium more efficiently, creating a synergy that can potentially optimize your brain's magnesium levels, promoting better cognitive function and emotional well-being.

Optimizing brain function with the combination of Red Light Therapy and the right vitamins and supplements can contribute greatly to your overall wellness by reducing inflammation, and enhancing circulation. It is possible to achieve a healthier and sharper mind with Red Light Therapy, and these supplements work in harmony to promote your overall well-being.

A.J. Harewood

It's important to note that while vitamins and supplements can be beneficial, we always recommend consulting your healthcare provider before starting any new regimen to ensure there are no contraindications in taking these supplements with other medications you might be taking currently and adding red light therapy to your wellness regimen.

Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse with Red Light Therapy: A Fun and Effective Guide

A spoof for your enjoyment....maybe....

Picture this: the world has succumbed to a zombie apocalypse, and you're desperately trying to stay alive. You're dodging the undead hordes, scavenging for supplies, and facing the ever-present threat of infection. In this post-apocalyptic scenario, you might not think that red light therapy would be at the top of your survival checklist, but think again! At The Wellness Center, we're not just the gold standard of pulsing full-body red light therapy, we're also here to show you how this technology can give you an edge in the zombie-infested world. So grab your flashlight, load up your crossbow, and let's dive into the world of red light therapy amidst the undead chaos.

Boost Your Immune System

First things first, in a world overrun by zombies, you want your immune system to be in tip-top shape. Red light therapy has been shown to stimulate the production of immune cells, which can help your body fend off infections. By incorporating our full-body red light therapy sessions into your daily routine, you'll be giving your immune system the best possible chance to keep those zombie bites at bay.

Accelerate Healing

Zombie encounters can be brutal, and even the most agile survivor may end up with a few scrapes and bruises. With red light therapy, you can speed up the healing process. The enhanced cellular activity prompted by our red light promotes tissue repair and reduces inflammation, helping you bounce back faster.

Stay Energized

Surviving in a post-apocalyptic world requires energy, and the constant threat of zombies can be mentally and physically draining. Red light therapy can help boost your energy levels by enhancing the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) in your cells. So, while the zombies lumber around, you'll have the stamina to stay one step ahead.

Improve Sleep Quality

Sleep is a precious commodity in the zombie-infested world. Red light therapy can help regulate your sleep patterns by balancing your circadian rhythm, which is crucial for restful sleep. With better sleep, you'll be more alert and ready to face whatever the undead hordes throw your way.

Relieve Stress and Anxiety

In a world where zombies are your closest neighbors, stress and anxiety are part of the daily grind. Red light therapy has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety levels by triggering the release of endorphins and decreasing cortisol. This means you'll be better equipped to handle the constant tension that comes with living in a zombie-infested world.

Boost Mood and Mental Clarity

Keeping a positive outlook can be challenging when you're surrounded by the undead. Red light therapy can help improve your mood and mental clarity by increasing the production of serotonin and dopamine, the "feel-good" neurotransmitters. This can keep your spirits high and your wits sharp as you navigate the apocalypse.

Conclusion

The world may have been overtaken by zombies, but that doesn't mean you can't make the most of your survival journey. At The Wellness Center, we are the gold standard of pulsing full-body red light therapy, and our advanced technology can help you stay fit, healthy, and focused in the midst of the undead chaos. While red light therapy may not be the silver bullet to eliminate zombies, it's a fantastic way to give yourself an edge and improve your overall well-being during these challenging times. So, whether you're holed up in a fortified bunker or braving the wilderness, consider incorporating red light therapy into your survival toolkit. Who knew that surviving the zombie apocalypse could be so illuminated and rejuvenating?

Red Light Therapy: A Promising Therapeutic Method for Sciatic Nerve Pain

Sciatic Nerve Pain and Its Impact on Daily Life

The sciatic nerve branches from the lower back, runs through the hips and buttocks, and continues down the lower extremities. Sciatic nerve pain (sciatica) can significantly impact a person’s daily life, since it can also be debilitating. Sufferers of sciatic nerve pain can endure intense, excruciating pain which can make it extremely difficult to sit, walk, or stand, and usually only affects one side.

The following insights can provide a better understanding of Sciatic Nerve pain:

Approximately 40% of people will experience sciatic nerve pain at some point in their lives.Sciatica is most commonly caused by a herniated disc, which accounts for about 90% of cases. Those suffering from chronic sciatic pain for 6 months or more have a poorer outcome following surgery than patients who suffer acute pain from this condition for less than 6 months. The average duration of an episode of sciatic pain is around 6 weeks, but it can last anywhere from a few days to several months.Exercise can strengthen the spine, core, and improve muscle health.

Some sufferers of sciatic nerve pain may use over the counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to relieve symptoms, and should be taken in the lowest effective doses to avoid any harmful side effects, according to Harvard Health.

The following symptoms you might experience with sciatic nerve pain:

Lower back pain.Pain in the buttocks.Numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the legs or feet.

Difficulty standing or walking.

This type of discomfort can limit mobility, disrupt our sleep patterns, hinder productivity, and affect the quality of life in general. It is important to find a therapeutic method that works to get you back on track with your daily activities!

how Red Light Therapy targets Sciatic Nerve pain:

Targets sciatic nerve pain by penetrating deep into the tissues and promoting cellular regeneration.

Aids in the repair of damaged cells to help reduce the pain associated with sciatica.

Works to increase blood flow to the nerves and helps to nourish the cells with essential nutrients, oxygen, and energy, facilitating faster healing and providing relief from nerve pain.

Red Light Therapy offers a range of benefits that can help improve your quality of life. Here are some of the benefits you might experience:

Pain reduction: Red Light Therapy can be an effective way to reduce the pain associated with sciatic nerve pain management. The deep penetrating wavelengths can help stimulate the release of endorphins, a natural analgesic (painkiller).

Inflammation reduction: Sciatic nerve pain can also be associated with increased inflammation, and Red Light Therapy helps to reduce that by increasing circulation and oxygenating the blood, which improves cellular health and the cell’s ability to combat inflammation.

Improved mobility: Sciatic nerve pain can severely limit your mobility, but Red Light Therapy can help relax the muscles, increase flexibility, and improve your range of motion to help you move more freely with less discomfort.

Enhanced flexibility: Tight muscles and stiffness are also common symptoms associated with sciatic nerve pain. Red Light Therapy encourages the muscles to relax and increases collagen production, which can also lead to better flexibility over time.

By incorporating Red Light Therapy into your wellness plan for sciatic nerve pain relief, you can experience better control over your daily activities with reduced pain, inflammation, improved mobility, and enhanced flexibility.

Red Therapy vs. Traditional Treatment Methods:

Red Light Therapy is emerging as a promising new therapeutic method for sciatic nerve pain, either on its own or as an adjunct therapy to traditional treatment methods. While traditional approaches such as physical therapy and medication have been effective in managing sciatic nerve pain to some degree, Red Light Therapy presents a non-invasive, drug-free option that is changing the way we approach caring for people with this condition.

Traditional treatment methods for sciatica are aimed at strengthening the affected area and reducing inflammation, medications like pain relievers and anti-inflammatory drugs are commonly prescribed to manage the symptoms, but can have unwanted side effects. It’s important to know all therapeutic options available for your care to choose what works best for you!

Our Red Light Therapy combines four specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared (NIR) light to penetrate beyond the skin at various levels, including deeper levels into the tissues to encourage cellular repair, pain relief, and a reduction in inflammation. By promoting healing at a cellular level, this natural approach offers excellent complementary care, but can also work well independently.

It is important to consult with your primary care provider to determine the true underlying cause of the sciatic nerve pain and potential therapy options you are considering to ensure there are no conflicting issues with care.

Here are some supportive practices you can do at home in combination with Red Light Therapy to help decrease your sciatic nerve pain:

Hot or cold packs to help decrease inflammationAvoid prolonged sitting or standingGentle stretching methods for the spine and hamstringsFocus on practicing good posturePractice exercises that strengthen your coreIncorporate walking or swimming as a part of your regular exercise regimenUtilize proper techniques when lifting and shifting

Traditional methods such as physical therapy and medication have their merits in managing sciatic nerve pain, but Red Light Therapy offers a complementary alternative that could potentially revolutionize how we approach this condition. With its non-invasive nature, proven efficacy, and ability to promote cellular healing without relying on medications or invasive procedures, Red Light Therapy has an important place in sciatica pain management that deserves careful consideration.

The Power of Cognitive Function: The Relationship Between the Brain and Red Light Therapy

The Importance of Cognitive Function in Everyday Life:

Cognitive function is the action of using your brain to think and acquire knowledge. It allows us to process information, solve problems, and make decisions. Attention to details, memory, language skills, and perception are other important functions our brains need to accomplish. Clearly, achieving optimal brain health is of significant importance.

It’s vital to maintain the best possible cognitive health to accomplish daily tasks efficiently, engage in meaningful relationships, pursue our goals and aspirations, and adapt to the many types of situations we face in this life. We need our cognitive abilities to process important information for school, work, to maintain our focus, and to make sound judgments.

Brain health is especially important as we age. Just as physical exercise keeps our bodies healthy and fit; staying active stimulates cognitive function and can help preserve mental sharpness. Regular exercise, a balanced diet rich in nutrients that support brain health (like omega-3 fatty acids), adequate sleep, and managing stress also contribute to better brain function.

The Fascinating Connection Between Red Light Therapy and the Brain:

The connection between Red Light Therapy and the brain is a fascinating one, where specific wavelengths of red light stimulate cellular activity and promote healing. It has shown promising effects on cognitive function. A Randomized controlled trial from February 2019 suggests that Red Light Therapy “may enhance the frontal brain functions of older adults in a safe and cost-effective manner.”

Harnessing the power of Red Light Therapy allows you to experience a therapy that is non-invasive and drug-free to improve brain function and unlock your full cognitive potential.

Here are a few ways Red Light Therapy can be helpful when caring for your cognitive health:

Provides support to our brain’s health and performance.

Stimulates the neurons (brain cells) and mitochondria.

Can help improve mental clarity.

Contributes to reducing brain fog.

Several drugs have been approved for cognitive impairment in Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular Dementia, and Mild Cognitive Impairment with few providing significant benefits.

Our Whole Body Pods use low energy and high wavelengths that are emitted by red and near-infrared (NIR) light that penetrates the skin and goes deep into the cells. This differs from blue light, which emits higher energy (which can have harmful effects on the retina) and a low wavelength.

Changes in cognitive function can be a normal sign of aging, but there are several conditions that can have an impact on cognitive health, which are listed below:

Traumatic Brain Injury: Traumatic brain injury (TBI), also known as concussion, is a serious medical condition that impacts the brain when there has been a sudden jolt or blow to the head. This can happen as a result of incidents like car accidents, a fall, sports injuries, or a physical assault. TBI can range from mild to severe and can have a significant impact on an individual's physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being. Common symptoms of TBI include headaches, dizziness, memory problems, difficulty concentrating, mood swings, and changes in sleep patterns.

Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) impacts 10-20% of the adult population age 65 and older, and reveals signs that are noticeable, but do not actually impede activities of daily living.

Alzheimer’s Disease:  The most common form of dementia that affects thinking, memory, and behavior. One study acknowledges that current treatments are relatively ineffective when treating conditions like Alzheimer’s Disease. A report from the Journal of Physics found on PubMed from June 21, 2021 reveals while further studies are needed, Red Light Therapy shows great promise with regards to treating Alzheimer’s Disease.

Vascular dementia: This occurs mainly in elderly adults for which the cause is often related to arterial blockage or leakage in the brain due to a heart condition or stroke, and the flow of blood is impacted.

Parkinson’s Disease: Some reports say the cause is unknown, while others report the primary cause of Parkinson’s Disease is dopaminergic neuronal loss. This disease has impacted more than one million people in the United States alone.

Red Light Therapy is a promising therapeutic method for boosting cognitive health. It can improve mental agility, enhance memory, boost overall brain function, and is paving the way for a new approach to cognitive wellness. When looking to improve your cognitive health in general or protect your brain function as you age, Red Light Therapy could be a viable therapeutic option for you!

Embrace the Change of Seasons: How Red Light Therapy Can Help Combat S.A.D.

Updated: Nov 13, 2023

As the picturesque state of Utah transitions from the warm embrace of summer to the crisp beauty of fall, we can't help but anticipate the inevitable arrival of winter. While the change in seasons brings its own charm, it also brings a challenge for many – Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.). At The Wellness Center, we understand the importance of proactively addressing this issue. With our gold standard red light therapy, we're here to shed some light on the subject, both figuratively and literally.

Recognizing Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.)

S.A.D. is a type of depression that typically occurs seasonally, most commonly during fall and winter. Exploring the Potential Benefits of Red Light Therapy for Depression:

Increased Interest in Red Light Therapy for Depression:

There has been growing interest in Red Light Therapy for its ability to harness the power of light to promote healing and well-being. This therapeutic method is showing promise as a complementary choice for depression as well. This non-invasive therapy exposes the body to low levels of red or near-infrared light, which are believed to have a range of potential benefits for both mind and body.

Red light therapy has been studied for its potential effects on health conditions, including depression. While this article is not a substitute for professional medical advice or therapy, a somewhat older study from 2009 revealed that 6/10 participants experienced remission after one session at two weeks post-therapy.

Research has revealed the following about depression:

Reportedly, over 50% of the people who suffer from depression experience zero benefits from existing medications, and there are no new drugs on the horizon to address this condition.

Stress can bring about depression, but no actual cause for depression has been identified.

Depression is the second most predominant illness in the United States, but receives less funding than is needed to make significant progress in treating it.

A diagnosis of depression is subjective, and not based on testing like blood tests or a brain scan.

Depression can be complex, and will generally include the presence of symptoms that last longer than two weeks. Here are some of the symptoms that one might experience with depression:

Not finding pleasure in activities previously enjoyedChanges in energy level (increase or decrease)Feelings of worthlessnessChanges in sleep patterns (increase or decrease)

Suicidal ideation

How Red Light Therapy Works on the Brain to Reduce Symptoms of Depression:

Our pulsing red light therapy pods show promising results in alleviating symptoms of depression by pulsing frequencies that directly target the brain. The mechanism behind this therapy involves pulsing specific frequencies scientifically proven to produce dopamine in the brain using red and near-infrared light. When exposed to these wavelengths and frequencies, the light goes beyond the skin and reaches the brain, where it interacts with neurotransmitters and triggers physiological responses.

Studies have suggested that Red Light Therapy can increase the production of serotonin and dopamine, which are neurotransmitters associated with mood regulation. It may also promote neurogenesis and enhance synaptic plasticity, leading to improved cognitive function and emotional well-being.

Dietary Considerations to Help Reduce Symptoms of Depression:

Diet is an important factor in mental health, and can play an important complementary role in your Red Light Therapy program. Eating a diet that includes the following foods can also contribute to decreasing your risk of depression:

FruitsVegetablesFishOlive oilLow-fat dairy

Even though further research is needed to fully understand its effects on depression, Red Light Therapy continues to show promise as a complementary therapy for depression. Harnessing the power of this therapy in combination with improving our dietary choices can be an effective means of reducing symptoms of depression.

Boost Muscle Performance and Shorten Recovery Time With Red Light Therapy:

The Benefits of Red Light Therapy for Muscle Health:

Pursuing optimal muscle health is standard practice for athletic individuals seeking innovative, effective ways to boost muscle performance and shorten recovery time. Red Light Therapy is currently one of the methods gaining increased interest to improve muscle wellness and cellular health. This non-invasive therapeutic approach utilizes specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light that have the ability to penetrate deep into the muscles to promote improved muscle performance.

How Red Light Therapy Can Improve Muscle Function:

A narrative review on “Photobiomodulation and Sports” revealed that “In a short time that PBM applied creatively and targeted depending on the sport and the size of the level of physical effort to perfectly modulate the mitochondrial activity and thus lead to remarkable improvements in performance.”

Promising results have been reported with regard to using Red Light Therapy prior to physical activity. While studies continue, the industry remains optimistic about the ability of Photobiomodulation to do the following:

Enhance muscular endurance.Increase an individual’s ability to perform more repetitions.Sustain higher-intensity workouts.Reduce exercise-induced inflammation.Minimize post-workout soreness.Facilitate faster recovery.

Accelerating Muscle Recovery and Reducing Inflammation:

Red light therapy has shown promising results with sports-related conditions accelerating muscle recovery and reducing inflammation. The four wavelengths used in our Whole Body Pods at The Wellness Center extend beyond the skin’s surface, penetrating deep into the muscles, stimulating cellular repair and regeneration.

In addition to increasing blood flow and oxygenation to the muscles, it helps to flush out toxins and delivers essential nutrients that promote healing. By improving blood flow, this enhanced circulation not only helps to reduce inflammation but also plays a crucial role in speeding up recovery and minimizing discomfort.

Use Red Light Therapy to Enhance Athletic Performance and Prevent Muscle Fatigue:

Stimulates cellular energy production, and can lead to improved circulation and oxygenation of muscles. The increased blood flow can improve the rate of recovery from intense workouts.

Works to alleviate inflammation and shorten recovery time.

Reduce the risk of muscle fatigue. Studies are limited, but indicate Red Light Therapy has the potential to boost endurance by improving mitochondrial function, which could play an important role in the athlete's ability to push their limits further.

Red Light Therapy to Prepare For Better Outcomes:

To maximize the benefits of Red Light Therapy on your muscles, it is important to incorporate this method as part of your pre-workout routine. The information below will help you achieve the best results with your therapy:

Scheduling sessions before intense workouts or physical activity to prepare for better muscle recovery and reduce inflammation that can occur after intense physical activity.

It is recommended that Red Light is directed to the specific muscles you want to target, and our Whole Body Pods at The Wellness Center provide full coverage using four wavelengths to ensure the light penetrates deep into the muscle tissue for optimal results.

Consistency is key. Commit to using Red Light Therapy as recommended to improve your experience for enhanced muscle recovery, reduce soreness, and improve overall performance.

Red Light Therapy has the potential to improve circulation, endurance, and support overall muscular health. Its ability to stimulate cellular repair processes while minimizing discomfort post work out makes it a viable option for anyone looking to optimize their physical well-being. Consider exploring this innovative approach as part of your pre-workout journey to achieve the goals you have set for yourself.

As with any therapy, it is recommended that you include your primary care provider in the decision-making process.

What You Should Know About Immunosuppressant Drugs and Red Light Therapy:

Immunosuppressant drugs are used to suppress the immune system when it mistakenly attacks healthy cells and tissues in the body and they reduce the risk of transplanted organs being rejected. Immunosuppressants block the body’s ability to produce certain proteins that cause inflammation and tissue damage. Immunosuppressants can lower immunity, which increases the risk of infection.

It’s important to reduce inflammation to help alleviate the symptoms associated with autoimmune diseases and to improve the quality of life for those managing those symptoms.

A few issues that can arise with autoimmune disease:

Various organs and systems are affected, which can lead to a wide range of symptoms, complications, including photosensitivity. In some cases, the treatment for autoimmune diseases may require the use of immunosuppressants to suppress or modulate an overactive immune response.Increased risk of skin cancer.

Avoiding Red Light Therapy When Prescribed Immunosuppressants:

Red Light Therapy, also known as Photobiomodulation (PBM), is non-invasive, is cutting-edge, and uses low-level red and near-infrared light to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes, making the cells produce more energy, improve circulation, and reduce oxidative stress. Immunosuppressants work to suppress the immune system while Photobiomodulation works to stimulate it. Therefore, Red Light Therapy is not recommended for patients who are actively taking immunosuppressants.

Interest in Red light Therapy has been increasing and research is ongoing, and it is important to know that immunosuppressants interfere with the body’s natural healing process and can make the effects of Red Light Therapy less effective. Make sure to discuss therapy options with your primary care provider before participating in a therapeutic plan involving this, or any other type of therapy when taking immunosuppressants.

Here are some cases in which you might be prescribed immunosuppressants:

Organ Transplant.Stem Cell Transplant: Uses stem cells from your bloodstream, or a donor's bloodstream. This is the most common type of transplant.Bone Marrow Transplant: Uses stem cells from your bone marrow, or a donor's bone marrow.HIV and many other common and uncommon autoimmune diseases.

Here are some of the immunosuppressants that might be used for transplant recipients and other autoimmune diseases:

Prednisone, a corticosteroid used for Immunosuppression rejection and cellular rejection treatment.Cyclosporine, a Calcineurin Inhibitor used given to prevent organ transplant rejection, and for immunosuppression maintenance.Tacrolimus, a Calcineurin Inhibitor used post transplant for immunosuppression maintenance.Azathioprine, an Anti-metabolite used for immunosuppression maintenance.Mycophenolate mofetil, an Anti-metabolite used for rejection treatment and immunosuppression maintenance.Sirolimus, used for malignancies, rejection treatment and immunosuppression maintenance.Everolimus, Malignancies, rejection treatment and immunosuppression maintenance. with renal, kidney and liver transplants.Alemtuzumab, for T-cell depletion, used to induce immunosuppression.Azathioprine, given to prevent organ transplant rejection.Hydroxychloroquine, for arthritis and lupus.Methotrexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis, where the body is attacking its own joints, psoriasis (where the body attacks its own skin), and certain types of cancers (to slow the growth of that cancer).TNF inhibitors such as Etanercepts, Infliximab, and Adalimumab.

Remember, combining Red Light Therapy with immunosuppressant medication can interfere with the intended effects of these medications and compromise their efficacy.

As with any new therapy plan for your health and wellness, it’s important to find the therapeutic methods that fit you best. The Wellness Center is dedicated to providing the best light therapy available. If you are not taking immunosuppressants, and have been cleared by your primary medical provider to move forward with Red Light Therapy, we are here to help!

10 Ways Sugar Affects Your Body That are Not So Sweet and how Red Light Therapy can counteract it!

The Sweet Temptation and Hidden Dangers of Sugar:Sugar is a sweet, tempting staple that has become a part of today's modern diet. Whether it’s a dessert or beverages, the hidden risks go far beyond the visible effects sugar has on our bodies. The dangers of consuming too much sugar should not be ignored, so it’s important to be aware of the hidden risks associated with sugar consumption.

Let’s explore the effects sugar has on our bodies and why it’s so important to reduce our sugar intake:

1. Weight Gain and Obesity:Excess sugar consumption can have a significant impact on weight gain and obesity. When we consume high amounts of sugar, our bodies convert it into glucose, which is then used for energy. However, when we consume more sugar than our bodies need for an energy boost, the excess glucose is converted into glycogen and stored in the liver and muscles.  Once these storage sites are full, any remaining glucose is converted into fat and stored in adipose tissue throughout the body. This process leads to an increase in body weight over time.

2. Increased Risk of Type 2 Diabetes:Type II Diabetes is caused by genetics and lifestyle, and over time, consistently high sugar intake can lead to insulin resistance, and the body becomes less responsive to insulin's effects. This can lead to the development of Type 2 diabetes. Maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle by limiting our intake of sugary foods and beverages and opting for healthier alternatives can help reduce the risk of diabetes.

3. Cavities and Tooth Decay:Consuming excessive sugar can contribute to significant dental problems. Sugar is converted into acid by bacteria in the mouth, which then attacks the enamel of the teeth, causing decay and cavities. Sugar consumption can also lead to the formation of plaque, which can also contribute to tooth decay.

4. Energy Crashes and Fatigue:Sometimes you eat excessive amounts of sugar, then feel like you want to take a nap, but that is because sugar can cause energy crashes and make you feel tired. When you eat too much sugar, your body releases a more of insulin to help process it. But then your blood sugar levels drop, which can leave you feeling drained and exhausted.

5. Increased Risk of Heart Disease:When too much sugar leads to weight gain, high blood pressure, and elevated levels of triglycerides in the blood - this increases the risk factors for heart disease. A diet high in sugar can also contribute to inflammation and oxidative stress in the body, further increasing the likelihood of developing cardiovascular problems. The Sugar Association reports that when sugars increase calories, this can lead to weight gain and increases in cardiometabolic risk factors.”

6. Premature Aging of the Skin:Excessive sugar intake has been linked to the acceleration of premature aging of the skin. Consuming high amounts of sugar can trigger a process called glycation, where sugar molecules attach themselves to proteins in our body. This leads to the formation of Advanced Glycation End products (AGEs), which can be damaging to collagen and elastin fibers. As a result, the skin becomes less elastic and more prone to wrinkles and sagging. Andrew Nish, MD, of Unity Point Health reveals in an article on The Link Between Sugar and Aging “The more sugar we have, the more our skin starts to suffer” with the appearance of sagging, wrinkles, and skin that is slower to heal.

7. Depression:The impact of sugar on mood disorders is a topic of growing interest in the field of mental health. Research conducted by Frontiers In Public Health in January 2023 suggests that excessive consumption of sugar can have a negative impact on depression in patients who also suffer from obesity. It's important to note that while sugar may have an impact on mood disorders, it's not the sole cause or solution for these conditions, but reducing our intake of sugary foods and opting for healthier alternatives can be a beneficial step towards supporting our mental well-being.

8. Increased Risk of Cancer:Some evidence suggests a link between sugar consumption and the development of cancer. Sugar does give fuel to all cells, including cancer cells, but excessive sugar consumption can lead to obesity and insulin resistance, which are risk factors for certain types of cancer. While more research is needed to fully understand the relationship between sugar and cancer. Learn more about managing your sugars from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute here.

9. Weakened Immune System:Consuming excessive amounts of sugar can have a negative impact on your immune system. Consuming high levels of sugar can cause chronic inflammation, which can weaken your immunity. When this happens, you can become more susceptible to infection and illness.

10. Cravings, Addiction, Sugar Dependency:A craving is a strong desire and a sign of a potential addiction, while an addiction itself is continued use even though you know it is having a negative impact in your life. A dependency on sugar will reveal itself when you become sick when you do not have it. We can become addicted to sugar by using it as a form of comfort when stressed. It's important to find a healthier way to reduce stress.

Sugar is enjoyable and can often be a means of comfort in stressful times, but reducing or eliminating it can help reduce the risk factors for associated diseases. It is important to be mindful of your sugar intake to support a strong, healthy immune system. Red Light Therapy can be a complementary or alternative choice to reduce the inflammation sugar can cause, as well a help reduce the risk of other disease. Take Control of Your Sugar Intake for a Healthier Future!

Neurodegenerative Disease: Causes, Symptoms, and Red Light Therapy

What are Neurodegenerative Diseases?

Neurodegenerative diseases are characterized by the progressive degeneration and dysfunction of the nervous system. Inflammation is also a component of most degenerative diseases. These conditions affect the neurons, which are the building blocks of the nervous system, generally leading to a decline in cognitive function, movement, and overall neurological health.

These neurodegenerative diseases are chronic in nature and even with all the research, there is still no cure, making them a significant challenge for those who suffer from it as well as healthcare professionals. These conditions have proven to be quite difficult to treat, but studies to find viable therapeutic options for these debilitating conditions are ongoing.

Common Neurodegenerative Diseases, Characteristics and Therapy:

While each neurodegenerative disease has its own unique characteristics and progression patterns, they all share a common feature - the gradual deterioration of neurological function. Understanding the characteristics of these diseases can help researchers develop better treatments and interventions to improve patients' quality of life. The following are some of the most common among these diseases:

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a common form of dementia in older adults that causes behavioral changes, cognitive decline, and memory loss. Alzheimer’s Disease can be categorized as mild, moderate, or severe. The cause is unclear, but researchers believe it is due a combination of genetics and environmental elements.

A study by The Internal Journal of Molecular Sciences on May 25, 2023 revealed that “Research has suggested that PBM therapy can support capillary-like structure formation by stimulating vascular endothelial growth factors. Therefore, by lowering blood pressure, PBM offers not only a potential therapeutic approach for AD that slows down the progression of symptoms, but also a preventative treatment that regulates a strong risk factor of AD.”

Parkinson's disease, which affects movement due to a loss of nerve cells and is characterized by stiffness, tremors and difficulty balancing. The cause seems to be attributed to genetic and environmental factors. A prospective proof of concept study from July 2021 showed some therapeutic promise with Red Light Therapy as it relates to Parkinson’s disease.

Huntington's disease is caused by a faulty gene that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. This leads to movement disorders, cognitive decline, and psychiatric symptoms.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease that affects nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. ALS leads to muscle weakness, paralysis, and eventually respiratory failure. The cause is unknown, but genetic mutations, an adverse autoimmune response, or an overabundance of neurotransmitter glutamate are considerations.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS), also an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system (CNS). It also causes damage to the protective covering of nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord, resulting in a variety of symptoms including fatigue, difficulty walking, and numbness or tingling sensations. This may also be caused by either genetics or environmental factors such as where you live and the air you breathe. Lifestyle choices like smoking or drinking alcohol can also be contributing factors.

A study from The National Library of Medicine on July 7, 2022 reveals that “PBM has positive effects on MS by regulating the inflammatory process, controlling immune cell activity and mitochondrial functions, as well as inhibiting free radicals production which finally leads to a reduction in neurological defects and an improvement in the functional status of patients.”

If you have been diagnosed with a neurogenerative disease by your doctor, Red Light Therapy might be a viable consideration as a complementary therapeutic option for your care.

Living with Neurodegenerative Diseases: Coping Strategies and Supportive Care:

Living with neurodegenerative diseases can be challenging for the individuals suffering from it, and their loved ones. These progressive conditions can impact a person's physical and cognitive abilities a great deal over time.

With the right coping strategies and supportive care, individuals can improve their quality of life and maintain a sense of independence for as long as possible by adding some of the following to your care plan:

Healthcare professionals specializing in neurology or geriatrics can provide medical guidance and prescribe appropriate medications or therapies.

The Wellness Center can provide complementary care through Red Light Therapy to ease some of the symptoms associated with neurodegenerative disease.

Support groups can be invaluable for individuals who want to connect with others facing similar challenges, share experiences, and exchange coping strategies.

Working with an occupational therapist to identify techniques to help you adapt, or even devices to assist with performing activities of daily living.

Counseling services can address stressful emotional concerns or in dealing with the progression of the disease.

The fight against neurodegenerative diseases requires a multi-faceted approach that includes both medical interventions and supportive care. While there is currently no cure for these conditions, supportive care is an important part of improving the quality of life in such cases.

While more studies are needed to fully understand its effectiveness, Red Light Therapy offers hope for future therapeutic interventions for neurodegenerative diseases.

Hydration for Red Light Therapy and Optimal Wellness:

The Importance of Hydration:

Proper hydration is crucial for our bodies to function at an optimal level. We lose fluids regularly by sweating, eliminating waste, and simply by breathing. These fluids need to be replaced by drinking water and eating foods that have a high water content.

One of the benefits of proper hydration is increased collagen production, which contributes to maintaining healthy skin. Collagen is a protein that provides structure and elasticity to the skin, which gives the skin a more youthful and vibrant appearance. When the body is adequately hydrated, it can produce collagen more efficiently, improve the skin’s texture, and reduced signs of aging.

Staying hydrated also helps improve blood circulation throughout the body. Proper blood flow ensures nutrients are delivered efficiently to the cells being targeted by Red Light Therapy, which allows for better absorption of beneficial compounds and promotes a faster healing processes.

Red Light Therapy & Hydration:

Hydration becomes increasingly important during Red Light Therapy sessions since exposure to light energy can increase metabolic activity within cells, and can increase fluid loss through sweating, although minimal with the Whole Body Pods at The Wellness Center. Drinking water should always be a priority, as well as eating foods that contain a high water content for a better experience.

The interest in Red Light Therapy (RLT) has been growing for a variety of health concerns. RLT exposes the skin, tissues and cells to low levels of red or near-infrared light to stimulate cellular activity, and promote healing and restoration. Results with RLT will vary, and studies are ongoing, but improvements are being reported in the following areas:

Improvement in symptoms associated with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)Increased collagen productionReduced inflammationImprovements in conditions like acne and psoriasisImproved energy levelsShortened post-surgical recovery timeImproved the appearance of skin overallPost-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)Relief in symptoms of depressionReduction in neuropathic painHeadache reliefImproved sleep

Top Reasons To Stay Well Hydrated:

Water restores fluids that can be lost through basic bodily functions like breathing, sweating, metabolism, breathing, and the removal of waste from the body, but here are some ways staying well hydrated can contribute to your wellness:

Helps maintain body temperatureCan increase healthy blood flow and oxygen to the brainKeeps blood cells suppleImproves the cell’s ability to move freely within the blood vesselsEases remove wasteHelps cells maintain their shapeImpacts cellular shape by creating pressure inside the cellHelps dissolve nutrients in bloodstream before delivery to the cellsWater helps repair the cells in our bodyImproves cognition and concentrationHelps keeps your joints well lubricatedImproves sleep

Dehydration can affect the body in many ways. Being aware of the signs of dehydration can help us deal with them more easily. Here are some common symptoms one might experience when dehydrated:

Increased thirstDry mouth and throatDark-colored urineDecreased urine outputUrinary frequencyFatigueDizzinessMuscle crampsHeadachesIncreased heart rateRapid breathingConfusion

Drinking Water to Stay Hydrated:

The mitochondria rely on water for efficient energy production through a process called oxidative phosphorylation, and without adequate hydration, these little powerhouses could produce less ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is what drives many biological processes in our bodies. Consequently, this could potentially lessen the benefits one might expect from Red Light Therapy. Here are two types of drinking water to help you stay hydrated:

Spring Water: This natural and refreshing source of hydration has numerous benefits. It is comes from underground springs, where water flows naturally to the surface, often untouched by human interference.

Electrolyte Waters: This water contains sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, chloride, phosphate, bicarbonate, which are crucial for maintaining proper hydration and supporting various bodily functions. This is an excellent solution following therapy, and for athletes looking to replenish their electrolytes after a workout or simply to fresh and rehydrate.

Foods to Maintain Good Hydration:

Yes, water is hydrating, but there are certain foods that can keep us hydrated as well. The following list of hydrating foods can help you along the way:

BroccoliLettuceOrangesPineappleCucumberZucchiniBell PeppersSummer SquashCeleryStrawberriesWatermelonHoneydew melonCantaloupeGrapesAvocadoRadishes

Ensuring proper hydration is an important part of maintaining a healthy body for optimal wellness. Drinking water consistently throughout the day and incorporating hydrating foods can be easily accomplished, This can improve your energy levels, digestion, and enhance cognitive function. So make proper hydration a habit and reap the benefits of a well-hydrated body!

Oxidative Stress: Causes, Effects, and Red Light Therapy

What is Oxidative Stress?

Oxidative stress occurs when there is an imbalance between the production of Reactive Oxygen Species (molecules) and the body's ability to detoxify them or repair the resulting damage. ROS are highly reactive and can cause damage to cells, proteins, and DNA. This oxidative damage can lead to diseases that can seriously alter your life.

Let’s explore oxidative stress in greater detail and learn more about the impact it has on the human body, as well as the potential benefits of adding Red Light Therapy as part of your wellness plan.

Red Light Therapy for Oxidative Stress-Related Diseases:

Red Light Therapy continues to gain attention as an effective therapeutic option for a number of illnesses and diseases. Oxidative stress can damage cells, tissues, organs, and contribute to the development of many adverse health conditions and mental health issues.

Our medical-grade Whole Body Pods expose the body to four wavelengths of red and near-infrared light that stimulates cellular energy production and reduces the chronic inflammation associated with oxidative stress.

A study from PubMed in December 2022 shared this about Photobiomodulation (also known as Red Light Therapy) “Based on grade practice recommendations, PBMT (photobiomodulation) can be classified as strongly recommended for moderate grade of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and recommended for Anxiety Disorder. In Bipolar Disorder.” Research is ongoing to fully understand all of the benefits of Red Light Therapy for oxidative stress-related diseases, and these early findings suggest that it may be a promising therapeutic option.

The Link Between Oxidative Stress and Your Health:

While some level of oxidative stress is normal, excessive amounts can lead to a variety of health problems. This imbalance between free radicals (unstable molecules) and antioxidants can also be due to environmental factors like pollution and radiation can increase oxidative stress.

Lifestyle choices such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and poor diet can also increase the level of oxidative stress and make our bodies less efficient at repairing the damage they cause. When oxidative stress becomes chronic, it can lead to increased inflammation and has been linked to the following diseases:

CancerDiabetesAlzheimer's DiseaseParkinson's DiseaseCardiovascular DiseaseMajor Depressive Disorder

We have learned that oxidative stress can damage cells and contribute to illness and disease, but how can oxidative stress be managed at home?

Increase your intake of antioxidant-rich foods like berries and leafy greens.Eat tree nuts like walnuts, pecans, which are high in antioxidants, as long as you don’t have nut allergies.Consider adding flaxseeds and chia seeds to your diet, as they contain antioxidants polyphenols.Limit sugar intake to reduce inflammation.Eliminate processed foods from your diet.Take supplements that contain antioxidants like vitamin C or E.Exercise regularly.

If you are a smoker, consider quitting.

Incorporating the strategies shown above into your daily routine can help protect your health and well-being by reducing the negative effects of oxidative stress on your body. It is also important to be mindful of any food allergies you might have when considering certain foods in order to avoid adverse reactions.

We know oxidative stress occurs when there is a cellular imbalance and damaged cells are present, and that it can lead to a wide range of illnesses and diseases. There are things you can do to reduce your risk now, such as dietary and lifestyle changes, and adding Red Light Therapy to your wellness plan can increase the potential for healthier outcomes and improve your level of well-being.

Unlocking Happiness: Red Light Therapy and its Impact on Dopamine Levels:

What Does Dopamine Do?

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that sends messages between neurons, and from neurons to muscles that affect human behavior. It regulates our emotions, motivation, feelings of pleasure, and plays an important role in the brain's reward system. Dopamine helps us feel good when we do something right, learn something new or achieve a goal. However, when it is low it can have an adverse effect on those areas as well as our learning and memory formation, movement, and coordination. Dopamine is essential for both mental and physical well-being.

Symptoms Of Low Dopamine Levels:

When Dopamine levels decrease, it can affect us in ways that can contribute to an individual experiencing some of the following symptoms:

Depression, hopelessnessAnxiety, moodinessLow libidoInability to concentrateMemory lossDifficulty concentratingMood swingsLacking drive or motivationDifficulty sleeping

Who Might Experience Low Dopamine Levels?

Low dopamine levels can be caused by several factors, including certain illnesses and medications. The therapy or medications used to manage low dopamine levels will depend on the cause of the deficiency. Here are some illnesses that have been linked to low dopamine levels:

Parkinson’s DiseaseDepressionRestless Leg SyndromeSchizophreniaAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Red Light Therapy is an effective therapy to help alleviate many of the symptoms, conditions, and diseases linked to low dopamine levels. For example, Research about Parkinson’s Disease (PD) from Well Red from March 3, 2020 shows that near-Infrared light stimulates dopamine-releasing cells.

How To Increase Dopamine Fast?

Now that we know more about what dopamine is and how it affects us, let’s take a look at how to stimulate dopamine production and increase your dopamine levels fast by implementing some of the lifestyle changes listed here:

Come to The Wellness Center and try our dopamine protocol.Exercise regularly.Foods like leafy greens, chicken, almonds, apples, avocados, bananas beets, chocolate, oatmeal, oranges, peas, sesame and pumpkin seeds, tomatoes, turmeric, and watermelon.Getting a decent amount of sleep.Limit exposure to stressful situations.Medications like levodopa and carbidopa, are used to treat Parkinson’s Disease and stimulate dopamine production.Vitamins D, B5, and B6 are needed to create dopamine.Vitamin C can be helpful with the formation and conversion of dopamine in the brain.Omega 3 fatty acids such as those found in Fish Oil have been shown to improve depression and may also increase dopamine levels in the brain.

Now that we know more about what Dopamine is, how it works, and the role it plays both mentally and physically, the focus can be on increasing it naturally by exercising regularly, healthier eating, and reducing stress. Red Light Therapy can be very effective in helping to alleviate many of the conditions associated with low dopamine levels, and careful consideration should be given to the route you choose to take in terms of therapy.

A message from our manager Chase about dopamine, "As someone who has been a life-long addict and someone who has ADHD,  I'm all too familiar with dopamine, and what it feels like when there is a huge deficiency of it in my system. It has caused me years of depression, anxiety, addiction, fear, sadness, and anything else associated with mental health and addiction.  My biggest change regarding red light therapy came from our dopamine protocol.  I highly suggest anyone who struggles with mental health or addiction come to try this protocol.  My mission is to help 1 million people who struggle with mental health or addiction find relief like I have.  If you're struggling with addiction, mental health, wanting to die, or anything for that matter.  I'm just a phone call away, 801-800-2484."

Recognizing And Managing Tinnitus Symptoms:

What is Tinnitus?

Tinnitus is a condition that can be very disruptive and is characterized by a ringing, buzzing, clicking, humming, whistling or other internal noise in the ears. It usually occurs in older adults, and can be caused by age-related hearing loss, an ear injury, or exposure to loud noises. This internal sound can be persistent, or may come and go. People who smoke, use alcohol, or suffer from heart disease, obesity, extremely loud noises are at increased risk.

There is no cure for Tinnitus and it can have quite a negative effect on a person’s life, manifesting in a variety of ways. Here are some ways it can adversely impact the quality of life:

AnxietyDepressionProblems with friends and familyAn inability to concentrateLack of sleep

There are also certain medical conditions that can trigger Tinnitus:

Age-related hearing loss.Ear infections or earwax buildup.Blockage of an ear canal.Head and neck injuries.Tumors of the head and neck.Thyroid conditions.Migraines headaches.Medications like NSAIDs, antibiotics, cancer drugs, antidepressants, diuretics, or antimalarial medications.TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorders).Muscle spasms in the inner ear.Rheumatoid Arthritis.Stiffening of the bones in the middle ear (otosclerosis).Atherosclerosis.High Blood Pressure.

Our Whole Body Photobiomodulation Therapy (aka Red Light Therapy) has protocols in place to promote healing to manage many of these conditions effectively, and a recent Biometric Study from PubMed on the National Library of Medicine on March 2021 shed some light on how Photobiomodulation could be of benefit stating “The most recurrent objectives analyzed the action of LLLT regarding its effectiveness, with predominantly positive results in the effectiveness of the treatment of hearing problems such as hearing loss, tinnitus and vertigo,” and concluded LLLT is a great tool for professionals who take care of human hearing, helping in the recovery of patients with hearing problems in a noninvasive or drug way, thus improving the functions in which the TBLI is applied.”

How You Can Contribute to Preventing or Reducing Your Risk of Developing Tinnitus?

Tinnitus is a condition that affects approximately 30 million Americans. It can be a very disruptive and distressing problem, but there are steps you can take to prevent or reduce your risk of developing tinnitus.

Reducing stress levels.Avoiding loud noises.Have any blockages of earwax removed,Use a white noise machine.Wear a masking device to protect the ears.Consider the use of hearing aids.Consider medications to potentially reduce Tinnitus symptoms.

Consider surgery for any underlying conditions related to the blood vessels in the ears.

Making lifestyle changes is very important when managing illness, and implementing a plan that includes a relatively new, innovative, noninvasive option like Red Light Therapy can promote healing for the symptoms associated with Tinnitus and make living with it more manageable.

10 Delicious Foods That Excel At Fighting Inflammation and Improving Your Health:

What is Inflammation and How Can Certain Foods Help?

Inflammation is the body’s natural response to protect itself from disease and infection, and chronic inflammation can lead to more serious health issues. Fortunately, our bodies often tell us what it needs and certain foods can help reduce inflammation and improve our overall health.

An anti-inflammatory diet rich in antioxidants like omega-3 fatty acids can help maintain good health. Other nutrients like monounsaturated fats, gingerol, curcumin, carotenoids, vitamin C, vitamin E, and selenium can also help fight inflammation. Let’s explore what some of those foods are and how they contribute to better health.

Everyone has their own personal food preferences, but here are 10 Superfoods to enjoy while they work to fight inflammation in your body:

Blueberries contain vitamin C, fiber, and are packed with antioxidants and other nutrients that can help reduce inflammation. They contain compounds called polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants that can help protect cells from damage caused by an excess of free radicals and oxidative stress.

Strawberries are a delicious and nutritious fruit that are rich in magnesium, vitamin C, phosphorus, and also have anti-inflammatory properties.

Bananas have high levels of potassium and the fiber they contain can help protect the body from inflammatory processes. Bananas are also a good source of vitamins A, B6, and C, making it one of the healthiest snacks you can eat.

Broccoli is high in potassium and magnesium. It also has flavonoids and carotenoids, which are two antioxidants that work to reduce inflammation, increase cerebral blood flow, protect arteries, and reduce cell damage according to the University of Georgia.

Leafy greens like kale, collards, cabbage and Swiss chard are nutritional and powerful foods found to be effective in reducing inflammation. Spinach is rich in antioxidants and contains plenty of folate (a vitamin B) that has been found to reduce inflammation when eaten regularly.

Nuts like pecans, walnuts, Brazil nuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, hemp seed, and nut butters contain healthy fats, antioxidants and other nutrients that can help reduce inflammation and improve overall health. They are also a great source of protein and fiber, which can help keep you feeling full for longer periods of time.

Avocados contain vitamin E, which helps reduce inflammation in the body. They also possess phytosterols, which help protect the body from heart disease and cancer by lowering LDL cholesterol levels in the blood. They also contain antioxidants such as beta-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin that regulate your vision and immune system.

Tofu is a great source of plant-based protein that has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties that help fight against chronic diseases by lowering the risk of heart disease, cancer and osteoporosis, as well as improving your mood. It also contains fiber, and is said to lower cholesterol levels by dissolving cholesterol deposits in the arteries.

Citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruit and lemon are rich in antioxidants that can help protect against oxidative stress. They are a great source of vitamin C, which is essential for a healthy immune system and helps to fight off infection. So if you're looking for a natural way to reduce inflammation, adding citrus fruits to your diet may be the answer!

Oily fish like salmon, tuna, mackerel and sardines are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been linked to reducing inflammation as well.

Everything on the list may not be on your list of favorite foods, but it is important to do all you can to eat the foods your body needs to be at your best. An anti-inflammatory diet fights inflammation and can improve your overall health. Additionally, Red Light Therapy is a form of complementary care that is proving to be very effective at reducing inflammation at a cellular level. Combining the power of our Whole Body Pods with a healthier diet can give your body the support it needs to live a healthier more balanced life.

Aphasia: Let's talk symptoms and therapy

Aphasia and how it presents:

Aphasia is a brain disorder that makes it difficult for an individual to speak, or understand the words other people speaking that manifests due to a primary diagnosis. It can happen when there is damage or disruptions in parts of the brain that control spoken language. It does not, however, affect an individual's level of intelligence. Aphasia can be mild or severe, depending on the underlying cause and the degree of brain damage that exists. It can be caused by a stroke, brain injury, slow-growing brain tumor, or other neurological conditions. Aphasia can also be present at birth or develop over time due to aging or illness.

One category of Aphasia is known as fluent or receptive, in which case a person could experience poor comprehension and their use words that may lack meaning. Another category of Aphasia is known as non-fluent or non-receptive, where an individual can have good comprehension but difficulty finding the right words. Additionally, dementia is the cause behind what is known as Primary Progressive Aphasia, and the loss of language is the first symptom to arise in this case.

Approximately one million people in the United States have Aphasia, and there are an estimated 80, 000 new cases diagnosed each year. About one-third of stroke survivors suffer from Aphasia.

Whole Body Photobiomodulation (WBPM):

Whole Body Photobiomodulation (Red Light Therapy) is a therapy that is used for all areas of the body. Here at The Wellness Center, we use 4 different wavelengths of Light, (640nm, 810nm, 850nm, and 940nm) to target your entire body. WBPM can be used to treat a wide range of medical issues including skin conditions, muscle pain, joint inflammation, mental health disorders, and neurodegenerative disorders.

How Photobiomodulation can contribute to ALLEVIATING Symptoms of Aphasia:

The Wellness Center has medical-grade pods with protocols in place that target aphasia at a cellular level. A study posted on the 30th of March, 2023 states, "After the first 5-month series, this Person With Aphasia had utilized a slow rate of speech with a production of ∼25 to 30 words-per-minute during conversations and spontaneous speech. Utterance length was only 4–6 words with simple, grammatical structure. After the second, 5-month series of treatment combining PBM plus speech-language therapy, the rate of speech increased to 80+ words-per-minute and utterance length was increased to 9–10 words, with more complex grammatical structure."

Symptoms of Aphasia vary depending on the severity of the condition and may include:

Difficulty speaking.Difficulty understanding speech.Reading and writing difficulties.Make using numbers difficult.People with aphasia may also have difficulty with social communication and problem-solving skills.

Traditional Therapies for Aphasia:

Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) use a variety of techniques to help people with Aphasia regain their ability to communicate effectively. These therapies include speech and language therapy, cognitive-communication therapy, and alternative communication strategies such as sign language or picture boards.

The addition of WBPM as a complementary therapy has been shown to be effective in caring for those who suffer from Aphasia and appears to improve results. There are also support groups and online resources available for those living with Aphasia and their families. With the right help and support, those who contend with Aphasia can find new ways to communicate and lead fulfilling lives.

What families can do to support loved ones with Aphasia:

Be patient and give them plenty of time to respondSpeak with the person, not for themUse short, easy-to-understand sentencesCommunicate in a place that is quiet to limit distractionsTake your time when speakingUse pen and paper, or a tablet to communicate

Photobiomodulation is a relatively new field of medical science (60 years), and it appears to be a viable option for those seeking adjunctive therapy to improve their quality of life. It’s a noninvasive, painless, promising therapy that uses light therapy to help reduce inflammation, improve healing. Studies have already demonstrated the effectiveness of this therapeutic technology for conditions like chronic pain, arthritis, and other musculoskeletal disorders. While studies are ongoing, Photobiomodulation appears to be a safe and effective method for promoting recovery from injuries or diseases.

Concussions: Causes, Impact and Therapy

What is a Concussion and How Does it Happen?

A concussion is a type of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) caused by a sudden blow or jolt to the head. Concussions are quite serious in nature and they can be mild or severe. According to the CDC, “there were approximately 223,135 TBI-related hospitalizations in 2019, and over 69,000 TBI-related deaths in the United States in 2021.” Head injuries resulting in concussions can occur while participating in team or competitive sports like cheerleading, gymnastics, skiing, and especially contact sports like football, hockey or boxing, and other types of accidents, but can also be due to emotional factors. Sudden jarring movements of the head can actually create chemical changes that can be quite damaging to the brain cells. A concussion diagnosis could be missed in older adults since the the symptoms can overlap those of other medical conditions.

Here are some additional statistics related to concussion and traumatic brain injury:

A Traumatic Brain Injury occurs every 15 minutes.1.5 million Americans suffer from Traumatic Brain Injuries. The CDC estimates that 1.6-3.8 million sports and recreation-related concussions occur each year in the U.S.80% of professional boxers get a concussion.

10% of all hockey players suffer concussion.

Recognizing the Signs & Symptoms of a Concussion:

It is important to recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion and get proper, immediate medical attention should they occur. According to the The National Library of Medicine, signs and symptoms of concussions fall into the following four categories:

Physical (somatic); Headache, blurry vision, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, noise and light sensitivity, problems with balance, and early-onset nausea or vomiting.Cognitive: difficulty concentrating or thinking clearly, difficulty retaining new information, and feeling slowed down.Emotional (affective): Feeling sad or irritable, more emotional, nervous, or anxious.Sleep: Sleeping more or less than usual, having trouble falling asleep altogether.

Post concussive syndrome:

Concussions typically resolve within 2 weeks or less. In some cases, when concussion symptoms last longer than 2 to 3 months, this may develop into Post Concussive Syndrome. It often presents as depression and anxiety yet it is neither.  The more one is concussed, the more likely one will experience post concussive syndrome.

Red Light Therapy for Concussions and to prevent or relieve post concussive syndrome:

Red Light Therapy is a promising, innovative new therapeutic option being used for concussions and post-concussion syndrome. It has been found to be effective in reducing symptoms of cognitive impairment, such as memory loss, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. It can also help to reduce the risk of long-term complications associated with concussions. The Whole Body Red Light Therapy used at The Wellness Center is non-invasive and can be used in combination with other therapies to provide a comprehensive approach to concussion recovery, and there protocols in place that have been beneficial in alleviating many of the symptoms associated with concussion and improve the quality of life.

Further data found in the The National Library of Medicine from June 2021 shared the following: “Six human studies, all case series, with 37 patients in total have been done in Traumatic Brain Injury with various results. Naeser et al. (2011) reported two cases with closed-head TBI that showed significant cognitive improvement and reduced cost of treatment. They then conducted a study in eleven chronic TBI patients. They found improvement in learning ability, which was positively correlated with treatment duration (Naeser et al., 2014). In other case reports, clinical symptoms, including depression, anxiety, headache and insomnia, were reduced after laser therapy (not the same as whole body pods.), which might be associated with increased regional cerebral blood flow (Nawashiro et al., 2012; Henderson and Morries, 2015). Hipskind et al. (2018) investigated its effect on cognitive functional improvement and regional cerebral blood flow in 12 symptomatic military veterans diagnosed with chronic TBI.”

Preventing Concussions in Sports Through Protective Gear & Education

Due to the serious nature and long-term effects of multiple concussions, athletes should take precautions to prevent serious injury. Wearing the right protective gear and being educated on how to protect themselves from head injuries is of significant importance. Helmets must be worn properly and meet certain safety standards to ensure they provide the necessary protection. It is also important to be cognizant of which body movements can increase the risk of a concussion.

That said, coaches, trainers, and referees should also be trained on recognizing the signs of a concussion and how to respond appropriately when one occurs. Being educated about the proper techniques for tackling or checking an opponent safely are important to help reduce risks when playing contact sports.

Concussions are unique, complex and quite serious, and with the cutting-edge innovation of Red Light Therapy, clients are experiencing positive results. The full coverage provided by our Whole Body pods are  a safe, effective and non-invasive way to alleviate the symptoms that arise from concussion.

Shining Light on Autism

What is Autism?According to Autism Speaks, “Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by

challenges with social skillsrepetitive behaviorsspeech and nonverbal communication

According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 36 children in the United States today. We know that there is not one autism but many subtypes, most influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Because autism is a spectrum disorder, each person with autism has a distinct set of strengths and challenges. The ways in which people with autism learn, think and problem-solve can range from highly skilled to severely challenged. Some people with ASD may require significant support in their daily lives, while others may need less support and, in some cases, live entirely independently.Several factors may influence the development of autism, and it is often accompanied by sensory sensitivities and medical issues such as

gastrointestinal (GI) disordersseizures or sleep disordersmental health challenges such as anxiety, depression and attention issues.”

What is Red Light Therapy?Red light therapy is a form of light therapy that has been gaining popularity in recent years for its potential health benefits. One area of interest is the use of red light therapy in treating symptoms of autism. At The Wellness Center, red light therapy involves exposure to 4 different LED low-level red light wavelengths, which can penetrate the skin and stimulate every single cell to:

Produce more energyDecrease inflammationPromote circulationPromote the body's natural healing abilities.

Red light therapy enhances cellular function and repair, leading to a variety of health benefits.Red Light Therapy and Autism? WHAT?!?Several studies have explored the use of red light therapy in treating autism. One study published in the MDPI found that children with autism who received red light therapy experienced significant improvements in social interaction, communication, and behavior. Their results, “Photobiomodulation treatment over an eight-week period has been reported to improve a range of behavioral measures, including social awareness, communication and motivation, and a reduction in restricted and repetitive behaviors. In addition, photobiomodulation treatment for children with autism over a four-week period reduced irritability and other symptoms. These positive outcomes, quite remarkably, appear to be maintained for up to 12 months thereafter. A placebo-controlled clinical trial using verum laser acupuncture indicates improvements in speech and social interactions in people with autism. Further, the use of laser acupuncture in a child diagnosed with autism has been reported to generate a pattern of brain activity similar to that evident in normal children.”Red light therapy is a non-invasive and low-risk therapy, making it an attractive option for those seeking alternative or complementary treatments for autism. While more research is needed to fully understand the therapy's benefits, the evidence so far suggests that it may be a promising option for managing symptoms of autism. It's important to note that red light therapy should not replace traditional therapies for autism, such as behavioral therapy or medication. However, it may be a useful addition to a comprehensive treatment plan, and it's worth discussing with a healthcare provider. In conclusion, red light therapy is a promising therapy for managing symptoms of autism. While more research is needed, the therapy's low-risk and non-invasive nature makes it an attractive option for those seeking alternative or complementary treatments. If you or a loved one has autism, it's worth discussing red light therapy with a healthcare provider to see if it's right for you.

Did you know that soccer is the number one cause of micro concussions?

Did you know that how you eat after a concussion can make a difference?

At The Wellness Center we take concussions seriously. We've seen complete concussion relief in as little as just under two hours - six sessions of 18 minutes each. Amazing results!

My daughter died of suicide due to multiple concussions. No one knew how to help her. We can't reverse what happened to her but I will and have learned from it. These amazing ReGen Pods are an answer to prayers.  Now, I get to watch children who are suffering from concussion and post concussive syndrome find total relief. I find so much joy in watching this happen.

As a business, we decided to make this more accessible to school aged kids in Weber, Davis, and Box Elder school districts.  Introducing the Concussion Athletic Donation Program. We have a system. We have a wait list. Here's how it works. You have to get a voucher from your coach. Bring it to the center. When spots are available, you'll be asked to fill out a waiver, intake form, and a study questionnaire. You'll be set up with your six appointments at that appointment. You must keep your appointments or you lose your spot in the program. You come to each session on time, complete your 18 minute session, fill out the questionnaire. That's it! We want your children to heal!

What are the signs of post concussive syndrome? They can include headaches, sensitivity to light, inability to focus at school, difficulty in learning new concepts, difficult to read, to use a computer without getting headaches, depression, anxiety, anger outbursts, self harm, self medicating, and other similar symptoms. Managing Long-Haul COVID Symptoms: Anosmia, Ageusia and More!

by A.J. Harewood

What are Long-Haul COVID Symptoms and How to Manage Them?

We all know by now that Coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused a global pandemic, but many people are still suffering from its long-term effects. Long-haul COVID-19 is a term used to describe the lingering symptoms that some people experience after recovering from the virus. These symptoms can last for weeks, months, or even years, and can range from mild to severe. In this article, we will discuss what the Long-Haul COVID-19 symptoms are and how they can be managed.

Some of the most common symptoms of Long-Haul Covid-19 are, Anosmia which is a complete or partial loss of the sense of smell, and Ageusia is a complete or partial loss of the sense of taste. They can both have a significant impact on a person’s quality of life. They can make it difficult to enjoy food and detect odors, which can also be a safety hazard.

Red Light Therapy for Anosmia, Ageusia and Other Long-Haul COVID Symptoms:

Anosmia and Ageusia are just two of the long-haul COVID symptoms for which Red light therapy can be effective in providing relief using our Whole Body Pods. This therapy uses a non-invasive LED to stimulate the body’s cells and alleviate inflammation by increasing the blood flow to damaged tissues to promote healing. A Clinical Pilot Study from March 16, 2023 from The Journal of BioPhotonics states: Our results showed a significant functionality improvement of both olfactory and gustatory functionality. Extensive studies with large data and long-term follow-up periods are warranted.

Other Long-Haul COVID Symptoms:Losing the sense of smell (Anosmia), and the sense of taste (Ageusia) can be extremely difficult to navigate. That said, there are other symptoms that can present post-COVID (long-haul COVID) that can also be relieved with Red Light Therapy, and they are as follows:

Brain fog (difficulty focusing or concentrating)Difficulty sleepingDepression / AnxietyHeadachesVertigo / lightheadednessFatigue

Pins and needles sensations

Tips for Managing Other Long-Haul COVID Symptoms:

It has become clear that the long-term effects of COVID-19 can be debilitating, difficult to manage, and that many people are struggling those symptoms. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to help manage these symptoms and get back to feeling like yourself again.

Fatigue management is key for those dealing with Long-Haul COVID symptoms. Taking regular breaks throughout the day, getting enough sleep, and eating a balanced diet can all help reduce fatigue levels. Additionally, engaging in light exercise or yoga can also help boost energy levels.

Cognitive issues such as memory loss or difficulty concentrating can also be managed with lifestyle changes. Regularly engaging in activities that stimulate the brain such as puzzles or reading can help improve cognitive function over time.

Olfactory (smell) training therapy as mentioned by the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group, is another method that has been found to be effective in helping people regain their sense of smell after COVID-19 infection. This can be performed by smelling things with typically strong odors like garlic, lemon, cloves, eucalyptus and rose.

Taking Care of Yourself is Key to Managing Long-Haul COVID Symptoms

It is important to be prepared to take care of your physical and mental health in order to manage the long-haul symptoms of COVID-19. It will be a process, but by focusing on your self-care, you can help reduce the severity of your symptoms and improve your overall quality of life.

Diabetes: A Look At Viable Options

Updated: Apr 18, 2023A.J. Harewood

What is Diabetes and how does it affect your health?

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder that affects millions of people around the world. In brief, it is characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood, which can lead to serious health complications if left untreated. About 1 in 10 Americans have diabetes, and 1 in 5 don’t even know they have it.

Diabetes has a wide range of symptoms, some of which are increased thirst and urination, fatigue, weight loss, blurred vision and slow-healing wounds. When there is a lack of insulin production in the body or the body is unable to use insulin effectively, a diagnosis of diabetes could result.

Diagnosing diabetes involves testing for glucose levels in the blood and urine. If left untreated, diabetes can cause long-term damage to the heart, kidneys and eyesight. So, it really is important to understand what diabetes is and how it affects your health in order to prevent it or manage it properly.

How Red Light Therapy can help with Diabetes:

Red Light Therapy (Photobiomodulation) has been gaining popularity as an effective way to manage diabetes symptoms. It is a non-invasive and painless treatment that uses red and near-infrared light to stimulate cells in the body. It has been found to help regulate glucose levels, reduce inflammation, improve circulation, protect against diabetes-related complications, and potentially prevent diabetic brain disorders. Check out the conclusion of this study, "Our results demonstrate that tPBM can be an efficient innovative method for the treatment of microglial dysfunction caused by diabetes to prevent diabetic brain disorders and has the potential to be quickly introduced in clinical practice since tPBM is widely used for the therapy of brain diseases."

While the specific technical details of Red Light Therapy may vary, the whole-body Pods at The Wellness Center are the most advanced pods available, and emit red and near-infrared wavelengths of energy and have an impressive range of options to customize it's intensity, which means the power varies depending on the chosen protocol.

The three most common types of Diabetes and their causes:

Diabetes is a chronic condition that is caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, lifestyle and environmental factors like air pollution and extreme heat. There are several types of diabetes, but the most common are as follows:

Type 1, where the pancreas produces little to no insulin.Type 2 diabetes, where the way the body processes blood sugar is affected.Gestational diabetes, where high blood sugar affects pregnant women.

How to Live a healthy life with Diabetes:

Living with diabetes can be challenging, but it doesn't have to be overwhelming. According to KHealth.com, natural home remedies like Apple Cider Vinegar, Magnesium, Chromium, Aloe Vera, Cinnamon, Fenugreek, Ginseng, and probiotics can also be a helpful addition to your wellness plan. Discuss these options with your regular physician to determine what is best in your particular case.

While medications are the most common treatment option for managing diabetes, other lifestyle changes like the ones listed below are also very important:

Coming to The Wellness Center and taking the time to do red light therapy.Eating a balanced diet with foods that are low in sugar and carbohydrates can help keep your blood sugar in check.Regular exercise can also contribute to maintaining good health and managing your diabetes.

Keeping stress levels under control is a must for those living with diabetes, since stress can increase blood sugar levels and the risk of diabetes complications. So, be sure to take time to focus on activities that can help reduce stress to experience improvements in your overall health.

By following these tips and making the right lifestyle changes, you can live a healthier life with diabetes.

Commit to managing your Diabetes with the best treatment plan!

Diabetes is a serious condition that requires careful consideration of the various treatment options available for healthier living. To those looking for a natural, non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical treatment option to add to their wellness plan, Red Light Therapy in a professional setting is worth considering. It can provide relief from symptoms associated with diabetes while also helping to improve overall health and well-being.

What You Should Know About Cardiovascular Aging:

A.J. HarewoodImage Credit: Pixabay

What is Cardiovascular Aging?

Cardiovascular aging is the process of age-related changes in the heart and blood vessels that can lead to an increased risk of heart disease. As we age, our hearts become less efficient at pumping blood, leading to a decrease in oxygen and nutrient delivery to vital organs. This can cause a range of health issues, including high blood pressure, stroke, and coronary artery disease. It is important to understand the risks associated with cardiovascular aging so we can take steps to protect our heart health as we age.

The risk of heart disease increases with age, and may be attributed to some of the following conditions:

Increased stiffness of the large arteries (Arteriosclerosis), or hardening of the arteries, which can lead to hypertension or high blood pressure. The heart rate can slow down due to fibrous tissue and fat deposits that develop in the body’s natural pacemaker system that controls the heartbeat.Fewer red blood cells are produced due to stress or illness, which can cause anemia. The heart begins to fill more slowly due to the thickening of the heart wall, which can cause the heart chamber to hold less blood.Thickening (Aortic Valve Stenosis) of heart valves, which control the direction of blood flow, and the heart wall. This can decrease the heart’s tolerance for exercise and you would have to make efforts to reduce stressors. The capillaries oxygenate and supply nutrients to the tissues. They also receive carbon dioxide and waste back from the tissues. If those capillary walls thicken, the rate of exchange of nutrients and waste is slowed. The aorta becomes less flexible and can stiffen, causing high blood pressure, and forcing the heart to work even harder.Decrease the production of certain white blood cells called neutrophils, which are important to immunity. This can reduce your ability to resist infection.

How Red Light Therapy Can Contribute to Better Heart Health:

A recent study from February 3rd, 2023 from Wiley Online library states that "Red Light Therapy, a form of Photobiomodulation (PBM) treatment mitigated age-associated cardiovascular remodeling and reduced cardiac function, improved neuromuscular coordination, and increased longevity in an experimental animal model."

For aging adults, red light therapy can be especially beneficial as it helps to reduce oxidative stress and improve mitochondrial function. This can help to slow down the aging process and keep hearts healthy for longer. Additionally, it can help to reduce blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and other risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease.

Reducing Risk Factors With Exercise & Nutrition for Cardiovascular Health & Longevity:

Cardiovascular aging is a major health concern for many people, especially as they get older. Fortunately, there are steps that can be taken to reduce the risk factors associated with age-related heart disease. By making lifestyle changes and taking preventive measures, you can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and improve your overall heart health.

Exercise and nutrition are two of the most important areas of focus when it comes to maintaining a healthy heart and living a long life. Regular exercise helps to strengthen the heart muscle, reduce blood pressure, and improve circulation. Eating a heart-healthy diet full of nutrient-rich foods can help to reduce cholesterol levels, reduce inflammation, and provide essential vitamins and minerals for optimal health.

How Technology Can Help Monitor & Manage Your Heart Health as You Age

As we age, it is important to monitor our heart health and take proactive steps to ensure that our hearts remain healthy. Technology can help us do this in a number of ways. From wearables that track our heart rate and other vital signs, to digital health tools that allow us to monitor our cardiac health from the comfort of our own homes, technology can help us stay on top of our heart health as we age.

Taking Control of Your Cardiac Health

Red Light Therapy stimulates the body’s natural healing processes by helping to reduce inflammation and improve circulation, which can be extremely beneficial to our heart health and overall well-being. Eating healthier and exercising regularly can also contribute to improved cardiovascular health, and by combining these methods with regular checkups with your doctor, you can ensure that your heart remains healthy for years to come.

Do you have jaw pain?

Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) can be a painful and debilitating condition that affects the jaw joint and the muscles that control jaw movement. TMD can cause pain, stiffness, and difficulty chewing, speaking, and even opening the mouth. While there are various treatments for TMD, red light therapy has been found to be an effective and non-invasive option for managing the condition.

What is Red Light Therapy?Red light therapy is a non-invasive form of therapy that uses low-level red light to stimulate cellular energy production and promote healing. Having the Golden Standard of red light therapy here at The Wellness Center, we are focused on making sure we give you the best service available. How Red Light Therapy Helps with TMD:Research has shown that red light therapy can be effective in reducing pain and improving jaw function in people with TMD. Here are a few ways in which red light therapy can help with TMD:

Reduces Inflammation: TMD is often accompanied by inflammation in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. Red light therapy has been found to reduce inflammation by promoting the release of anti-inflammatory cytokines, which are molecules that help regulate the immune response.Improves Blood Flow: TMD can cause reduced blood flow to the affected area, leading to a lack of oxygen and nutrients to the tissues. Red light therapy has been shown to improve blood flow by stimulating the formation of new blood vessels, which can promote healing and tissue regeneration.Promotes Tissue Repair: Red light therapy can stimulate the production of collagen, a protein that is essential for tissue repair and regeneration. This can help repair damaged tissues in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles.Reduces Pain: Red light therapy has been found to reduce pain in people with TMD. This may be due to its ability to stimulate the release of endorphins, which are natural painkillers.Increases Jaw Mobility: Red light therapy can help improve jaw mobility by reducing stiffness in the joint and surrounding muscles.

In this study published just on Feb 13th, 2023 https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12903-023-02784-8 by Springer Link, they said, “patients showed a statistically significant improvement in the pain value at the 3rd and 4th visits.” And their conclusion? “LED light therapy could effectively relieve pain associated with myogenic TMD.”ConclusionTemporomandibular disorder can be a painful and debilitating condition that affects the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. Red light therapy is a non-invasive and effective option for managing TMD. By reducing inflammation, improving blood flow, promoting tissue repair, reducing pain, and increasing jaw mobility, red light therapy can help improve the quality of life for people with TMD.

Does Red Light Therapy help with PTSD?

Updated: Nov 27, 2023

What is PTSD?

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can occur after experiencing a traumatic event, such as a natural disaster, an assault, or military combat. Symptoms of PTSD include intrusive thoughts, avoidance of triggers, changes in mood and cognition, changes in physical and emotional reactions to triggers, nightmares, flashbacks, anxiety, depression, and difficulty sleeping. These symptoms can be debilitating and interfere with daily functioning.

Red Light Therapy at The Wellness Center

At our wellness center, we take pride in our specialized approach to holistic well-being, featuring cutting-edge full-body pulsing red light therapy. Distinguishing ourselves from the rest, we harness the power of four distinct wavelengths of red and near-infrared light. Our unique pulsing technique sets us apart even further, employing different frequencies that have been scientifically proven to facilitate the release of trapped emotions. This personalized blend of photobiomodulation, also known as low-level laser therapy or red light therapy, extends beyond mere treatment – a transformative experience. Research indicates that our approach to photobiomodulation may be particularly beneficial in addressing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), showcasing the comprehensive nature of our commitment to your well-being.

How does red light therapy help?

Several studies have investigated the use of photobiomodulation for the treatment of PTSD. A study published in 2021 found that LLLT can be effective in reducing the severity of PTSD symptoms, including anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Another study conducted in 2021 concluded that, "PBM can modulate brain activity in response to traumatic and stressful events and that early PBM intervention can prevent the occurrence of PTSD-like comorbidities."

How does PBM work for PTSD? Here is what the science says, "we found that PBM treatment differentially regulated Arc and c-fos expression in the hippocampus and amygdala, two PTSD-related brain regions. Additionally, PBM boosted ATP production and regulated protein expression in the hippocampus following stress." PBM also helps to reduce inflammation and increase blood flow to the affected areas of the brain, leading to improved brain function and a reduction in symptoms. PBM also helps to regulate the production of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, which play a role in mood and anxiety.

10 to-do's to help manage PTSD

In conjunction with red light therapy, here are ten things someone can do at home to help cope with PTSD:

1. Establish a Routine: Creating a daily routine can provide a sense of structure and predictability, which can be comforting for individuals dealing with PTSD.

2. Mindfulness and Meditation: Practicing mindfulness and meditation exercises can help ground individuals in the present moment, reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation.

3. Physical Exercise: Engaging in regular physical activity has been shown to have positive effects on mental health. It can help reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance overall well-being.

4. Journaling: Keeping a journal allows individuals to express their thoughts and feelings in a private space. Writing about traumatic experiences can be a therapeutic outlet.

5. Connect with Supportive Individuals: Maintain connections with friends, family, or support groups. Talking about experiences with trusted individuals can provide a sense of understanding and comfort. Additionally, find a therapist skilled in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.). This is a fresh and effective therapeutic process for the most severe cases.

6. Create a Safe Space: Designate a specific area in your home as a safe and calming space. Fill it with items that bring comfort, such as soothing colors, textures, or personal mementos.

7. Limit Exposure to Triggers: Identify and minimize exposure to triggers that may worsen symptoms. This might include certain movies, news stories, or specific environments.

8. Practice Breathing Exercises: Learn and practice deep breathing exercises to manage stress and anxiety. Controlled breathing can help regulate the nervous system.

9. Engage in Creative Outlets: Pursue creative activities like art, music, or writing as a way to express emotions and channel energy into positive outlets.

10. Educate Yourself: Understanding PTSD and its effects on the body and mind can empower individuals. Knowledge can demystify the experience and help in developing effective coping strategies.

Remember, seeking professional help is crucial for managing PTSD as well. These home-based strategies can complement therapeutic interventions and provide additional tools for coping. Always consult with a mental health professional for personalized advice and support.

Conclusion

Overall, the evidence proves that PBM is an effective adjunctive treatment for PTSD. It is generally considered safe and well-tolerated, with few reported side effects. It is important to note that PBM should be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for PTSD, which may include therapy, medication, and other approaches.

How Inflammation Affects Your Health & Body:

What Inflammation Is & What Causes It?

Inflammation is a natural response of the body to injury or infection. It is how the body responds when attempting to protect itself from harmful substances, and a mechanism that helps promote healing and restoration.

In its acute phase, it is short-lived and usually resolves on its own over a short period of time. However, it can become chronic if it persists beyond several months and can lead to more serious health conditions and multiple systems that could last a lifetime if left untreated.

The most common causes of inflammation are infections, injuries, allergies, and autoimmune diseases. It can also be caused by physical stress on the body or pollutants like chemical irritants in the environment.

Chronic inflammation can be brought about through acute or gradual onset. It is often a contributing factor to diseases like Alzheimer's, Cancer, Coronary Artery Disease, Depression, Diabetes, Obesity, and Osteoarthritis.

According to The Journal of Inflammation, the five signs of inflammation from which diagnoses are made are as follows:

redness, swelling, heat, pain, loss of function in the affected area.

How To Contribute to Reducing Inflammation in Your Body?

Inflammation can be reduced by taking care of your health and following a healthy lifestyle. This includes staying hydrated, incorporating a diet that contributes to reducing inflammation, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep.

Studies have shown that individuals who are considered to be overweight have a greater chance of developing joint inflammation, so maintaining a healthy weight is important.

Managing lifestyle factors can also decrease the risk of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, gout, and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Reducing your exposure to certain chemicals found in air pollutants can also be helpful. Using a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter in your home or office to remove particles and contaminants before they enter your lungs.

How Red Light Therapy Reduces Inflammation?

Red Light Therapy was developed over 60 years ago but has been used more recently in the last 12 years. It has been proven to be effective in reducing pain, stiffness, and inflammation in your body. It is a non-invasive, painless treatment with numerous benefits which help reduce adverse effects and manage conditions like chronic pain, arthritis, muscle soreness, and even skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema.

Red Light Therapy has also been shown to increase mitochondrial activity in cells by increasing ATP production, which is a molecule that provides energy for all cellular processes. The mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cells. They produce energy for the cells and convert food into energy. The mitochondria are also responsible for repairing damaged cells and removing toxins from the body.

Red Light Therapy reduces inflammation at the cellular level and combining this therapy with the lifestyle changes your body is asking for can provide the relief you’ve been seeking. It can also shorten recovery times for post-surgical and post-workouts.

Our clients have seen positive results from the therapy received using our targeted protocols, and our facilitators are here to ensure proper protocols are in place to attain the best possible results during your healing process.

1 in 5 high school students will sustain a concussion during their sports seasons. 30% of students who get a concussion will report two or more in the same year. Each year, an estimated 1.7 million people sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI) annually. Of them: 52,000 die, 275,000 are hospitalized, and 1.365 million, nearly 80%, are treated and released from an emergency department. TBI is a contributing factor to a third (30.5%) of all injury-related deaths in the United States. About 75% of TBIs that occur each year are concussions or other forms of mild TBI.

The connection between suicide and overdose is just beginning to be factored in. Are you starting to imagine the tremendous destructive influence of concussion?

The Sports Concussion Institute estimates that 10 percent of athletes in contact sports suffer a concussion each season. According to the CDCP, during 2001-2005 children and youth ages 5-18 years accounted for 2.4 million sports-related emergency department (ED) visits annually, of which 6% (135,000) involved a concussion. For young people ages 15 to 24 years, sports are the second leading cause of traumatic brain injury behind only motor vehicle crashes.

If left untreated they can lead to death! Undiagnosed concussions can cause serious and permanent damage, but some cases can be even worse. Concussions should be taken very seriously. Continuing certain activities with a concussion can lead to significantly worse results. Receiving a second heavy impact could result in death.

Our Regen Q8 Pulsating Red Light Therapy whole-body pods have proven to facilitate major relief for the concussed. We've treated people as young as 5 and old as 85 with our concussion relief protocol with great success.

Pregnancy and Red Light Therapy

A study, entitled “Utilization of laser therapy during pregnancy: A systematic review of the maternal and fetal effects reported from 1960 to 2017”, analyzed 22 articles between 1960 and 2017 using laser therapy at various wavelengths. The evidence they found supports the safety of red light therapy during pregnancy for both the mother and the fetus. A total of 380 women in all trimesters were included, and among them only one suffered premature rupture of membranes (which normally occurs just before the onset of labor). Researchers could not be sure whether this was caused by the laser treatment. Overall, the treatment was deemed safe. Their conclusion, "The available evidence, limited to low evidence level case reports and series, indicates cutaneous laser treatment during pregnancy is safe for both mother and fetus. Furthermore, laser physics and optics dictate there should theoretically be no risk of fetal laser exposure from commonly used cutaneous lasers."

However, healthcare professionals tend to advise against any sort of laser treatment during pregnancy, not because of evidence that it is unsafe but because of a lack of information. There is a glaring lack of evidence to that it's harmful. They are erring on the side of caution.

So what’s our conclusion? We recommend talking to your OB/GYN about whether red light therapy is safe for you to use during pregnancy. They may not recommend it. And they may.

The benefits are plentiful:

Suicide is Preventable

The following is a true story. It’s my story. It’s my husband’s story. It’s my children’s story. I hope it’s never your story.

My strong, sweet, sassy daughter, Hannah Warburton, experienced one too many concussions. The result? Eight short years ago at age sixteen, she ended her pain by suicide.

No one should have to experience burying their child, their sister or brother. It is the most horrific, all-consuming experience of my life. I wish it on no one.

The night of her viewing as hundreds of friends and family expressed shock and grief, one theme rose to the top, “Had we known, we would have helped her.” Hannah was like most 16-year-old girls, embarrassed and too ashamed to admit she needed help. I decided that night that I would do what Hannah couldn’t and I would be honest about the pain I was feeling and ask for help. That’s exactly what I’ve done for the last eight years.

I made a decision to resist the “what if” trap and instead decided to live “because of Hannah, I would…..” This is resilience in action.

For eight years, I’ve searched, researched, been a part of changing Utah laws, all to find better more productive ways to reduce suicide and more importantly help those who suffer to thrive not just survive.

On my nonprofit site, www.livehannahshope.org, you will find many resources. Please use them!

Now we come to the purpose of this story – a solution that I never saw coming and yet here it is, and it IS helping many people is the Q8 Regen Pod – a red-light whole body pod that is the most advanced pod in the world. I found this through a research scientist who was so impressed with the pods that he bought two. After I used the pod only 4 times, I decided I never wanted to be without one. So, I bought one and opened The Wellness Center in Huntsville in my home. I was so overwhelmed with the demand that I opened a second center in South Ogden with three pods.

Hannah had multiple small concussions resulting in post concussive syndrome.  Eight years ago, the medical community didn’t know what to do. And frankly, they still don’t. We do. Six sessions and youth are seeing amazing results. No more headaches, no more tiredness, no foggy brain. Kids are getting better.

Why wait for a concussion? We are seeing amazing results with reduced anxiety, depression, PTSD, post surgical pain, post surgical scar revision, long haul Covid, arthritis, and so much more. It’s science and it’s a proven modality to reduce inflammation, increase ATP production helping with physical recovery of all kinds. It’s also an adjunct modality meaning that sometimes the best results happen when you apply more therapies in your life such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.), physical therapy, and others all of which we have gathered partners who we feel are experts in these fields. Or, many find enough relief simply by using the pod 1 to 3 times a week. The pod is proven to help your body to heal itself which means less opiates, less surgery, less anguish, and more vitality.

It’s not if problems will come into your life. They most certainly will. It’s what you do with them that matters. I chose to learn from Hannah’s pain and change how I live and help others do the same. Be brave and come get help!

All my love,
